Established in Spring 2014, born from an idea my late sister shared with me "your makes are so wonderful you should sell them, people will buy them" I always doubted myself but when she passed away it was the push I finally needed. And that is how Shadow Paper Cuts was born.
I'm Emma, the face behind Shadow Paper Cuts and it's creations. I'm a Florist by trade and extremely proud of my knowledge of retail and my customer service experience.
I have an unusual love affair with paper... paper made of poo, printed, textured, glittered - I really have them all!
I collect it like some might collect jewellery, it was all hidden away in boxes for "special occasions" but that time never seemed to come. I couldn't bear to use it!
One day I realised that all this wonderful paper needed to be seen in its full potential. So I started with simple origami (art of folding paper) and quickly moved onto Kirigarmi (folding and cutting) I made cards for people, my own wedding invites and scrapbook pages, I made intricate collages cut from magazines and textured paper and card but on picking up a scalpel and intricately cutting into the paper I found love.
The beauty of it's simplicity like chipping away at a piece of stone finally revealing the diamond within its plain and sometimes boring exterior just had me hooked.
I never thought I'd love anything as much as I do flowers (or turtles) I simply immerse myself in cutting sometimes losing hours at a time.
I work from home and when I'm not working I'm a mummy to a busy 5 year old who keeps me on my toes! I also have a black cat, a white cat and a husband who I hide the paper stash from *ssshhh* you can keep a secret right?
